Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 17, Verse 13

Krishna said

विधिहीनमसृष्टान्नं मन्त्रहीनमदक्षिणम्।श्रद्धाविरहितं यज्ञं तामसं परिचक्षते ॥17.13॥

vidhihīnamasṛṣṭānnaṃ mantrahīnamadakṣiṇamśraddhāvirahitaṃ yajñaṃ tāmasaṃ paricakṣate

Meaning

Sacrifice done without proper method, without sharing food, without sacred words, without giving the priest his due, and without faith, is called tamasic.

जो यज्ञ बिना विधि के, बिना अन्न बाँटे, बिना मंत्रों के, बिना दक्षिणा दिए और बिना श्रद्धा के किया जाए, उसे तामसी कहा जाता है।
