ऊर्ध्वं गच्छन्ति सत्त्वस्था मध्ये तिष्ठन्ति राजसाः।जघन्यगुणवृत्तिस्था अधो गच्छन्ति तामसाः ॥14.18॥ūrdhvaṃ gacchanti sattvasthā madhye tiṣṭhanti rājasāḥjaghanyaguṇavṛttisthā adho gacchanti tāmasāḥ
Meaning
Those grounded in sattva rise upward, those in rajas stay in the middle, and those caught in tamas, the lowest quality, sink downward.

सत्त्व में स्थित लोग ऊपर उठते हैं, रजस वाले बीच में रहते हैं, और सबसे निचले गुण तमस में फँसे लोग नीचे गिरते हैं।
